It should be very obvious why BMD has to remain competitive with the state of art in AE so I'm not going to labour the point. The case for future development is simply that Resolve Studio is in direct competition with the Adobe suite for users and BMD will have to keep Fusion competitive with AE+certain plugins like Element 3D.
I have made the points in other threads that I believe Fusion development will be in the context of the Fusion Page in Resolve. I can read the Fusion release notes just as well as anyone else. Guido, I'd love to know why you think Fusion development is happening, you mentioned this a while ago but we have seen next to no development? The Entagma people piqued my interest in Blender and I've been playing with Geo Nodes for a while and it seems like it can be easily built upon and expanded. Blender is much more likely to be a threat to other 3D Apps, already the Geo Nodes system is incredibly powerful and with a couple more releases it could be really something that will shake up the 3D market particularly in motion graphics. Will Blender's Compositor become a threat to Fusion? Only if Blender's Video Editor becomes a threat to Resolve and the chances of that is nil. This has really only been a recent development before large companies got behind the development fund underlying how difficult it is to make Open Source software. BMD have improved the bundling of Fusion Templates, a simple bullet point in the Resolve 17.2 release notes which could have big ramifications on Fusion usage.īlender's Compositor is to be completely rewritten so it could become an interesting proposition for certain use cases and at least the Blender Foundation has the money and resources now to support continued development which so many other Open Source projects lack. For reasons I've expressed earlier I don't believe Fusion's future is in any doubt and big developments will be architectural improvements in the future.
